A bit about me & a bit about you
I'm a born-and-raised Aussie guy with nothing more than passion for life, love for people and a spirit of adventure.
I’m proud to have created Monsta Surf, a socially conscious brand that has reached thousands.
My vision for my life and my ventures is to use it as a platform to connect with people and ultimately empower them to adventure beyond fear with a positive, powerful influence to discover more for humanity.
I am blessed to have an amazing tribe around me that have taken ownership of this vision and spread it into their own communities which now spans over 40 countries around the world. I have also dreamed the Monsta Foundation into existence which has been utilised to simply love people and make in difference to those in need in Kenya, across South East Asia and locally in Australia.
One of the things I’m often asked is:
“How on earth did you start all of this?”
For as long as I can remember, I've always been a dreamer. My earliest memories are losing myself outside, climbing trees in my backyard whilst pretending I was saving the world at the same time.
I remember coming home from school and going into my wardrobe to put on my pretend superhero outfit and then running off into the bush. It was the highlight of my day. A moment where I would lose touch of reality and enter the world of my dreams. I thought the adventures of my imagination were a place to escape. I would go there to get away from the real world.
And then in 2011, I finished high school. It was time to grow up and enter the ‘real world’. But something inside me was fighting for my spirit of adventure. Everything inside me was pushing me to adventure beyond the fears of failure, the unknown and not being good enough to really chase after my dreams, to keep that spirit of adventure running wild within me.
I wanted to take my passion for surfing, life, people and adventure and combine them to create a surf brand.
So at 18 years of age with nothing but a burning passion, a piece of paper, a pencil and one funky drawing, ‘Monsta Surf’ was born. I asked my parents if i could create just one surfboard in our backyard and without knowing what they were getting themselves into… they said yes.
With what started as a backyard hobby shaping surfboards, Monsta soon gained momentum and I discovered more for my dreams when visiting the beautiful people in Huruma, Kenya - where on the same trip the Monsta Foundation was born.
Towards the end of 2013, our first range of clothing was released to the world. Experiencing this movement that has become so much greater than myself has been so fulfilling. Our team has become a family. And watching our passionate and loyal ‘Monsta Surf Tribe’ grow and thrive throughout the world in over 40 countries has been truly amazing.
But it definitely hasn't been easy. It has been a wild adventure. Constantly walking in faith, just putting one foot in front of the other. Like walking in a thick fog. We’ve always known the direction we want to go but there’s never been a clear path. Thankfully we’ve been graced to have some pretty incredible moments of bursting passion on the mountain tops which has sustained us for the journey. And it's made me come to realise this:
"Life is the greatest adventure of all. And each and everyone of us has an invitation to choose a life of GREAT adventure every morning we wake up."
From the non-stop frenzy of chasing my dreams with our team at Monsta Surf, to helping people around the world, to creating inspiring imagery with my team, to dropping out of university to go deeper into this adventure, to sharing my view of the world in many different forums to thousands and thousands of people, I’m undeniable proof that traditional rules were made to be broken.
Which brings me to you
Ultimately, I’m here for you.
To help you adventure beyond the fears of your world in order to dive into a deeper sense of living.
Wherever you're at in life, I’m here to help you tap into that sound, deep inside your soul. A sound of passion colliding with purpose.
I’m still navigating through the storms of my own life and I don’t have all the answers. I make mistakes, I have bad days, I get stared in the face by fear and doubt everyday, just like you.
But my commitment to you is to bring you the very best of what I’m living and learning. It won’t be perfect, but you can expect thought-provoking stories and a commitment to help you discover more for your life and those around you.
And lastly, could you do me favour?
I believe we are all in this together... I really find myself when I recognise that my story and your story is part of a much greater story. So it would mean so much to me if you joined me on this adventure and start to inspire your tribe to do the things that make them come alive. Because I believe together, step by step, we can make this world a more beautiful place.
Thank you so much for taking the time to hear my story. I’m super pumped that we’re connected and I’m so excited to do this adventure with you.
