Know yourself // The importance of self-esteem

How do you see yourself?

I have talked in the past about ‘talking to yourself like a winner’, but all positive self talk aside, how positively do you actually view yourself?

After all of the craziness of the last few years in my life, a lot of people close to me worry about my anxiety levels. Yes I have big aspirations and have put my dream, my business and myself out there for the world to talk about, and yes I do have lots of real problems to worry about - but I do carry an inner peace with me wherever this adventure takes me. And a big reason for this is because I have a healthy self-esteem.

I believe that having a great self-esteem is one of the most important traits for young people to have. It allows you to not listen to what the world says in order to actually be ‘you’ and do ‘you’. It gives you the audacity to dream BIG. You start to not worry about the little things and you set yourself free from self consciousness.

I want to encourage you to constantly check the health of your inner being. If your self-esteem really isn’t there, think about how you can make that change. Here are some things that have helped me:

- Establish goals and break them down into small achievable steps.

- Have a vision for your life and visualise how you see your future.

- Leave your comfort zone.

- Stop comparing yourself!

- Surround yourself with encouraging people who will help you strive forward.

- Celebrate the small wins.

- Stay active… Exercise is key!

- Know yourself & become self-aware.

If you really do lack the self-esteem needed to chase those big dreams, take the time to work on yourself and build it up.

You are the master of your own life. You own every moment. Don’t let your self-esteem get in the way of something special!
