I saw this location once in a photo and thought it wasn’t real. It seriously sparked my curiosity though. I wanted to see it with my own eyes. So last year, I did just that. I travelled to the Faroe Islands with my only desire to stand on this very cliff.
I arrived with no real plan or research. I asked some locals how to get here and just started walking. It was pouring with rain. The track was so muddy that I burried my boots in it several times and slipped on my backside even more. At one point, the weather was so crazy that I could hardly see in front of me. I was walking in the clouds. I was freezing. And I was becoming super fatigued. I thought I should probably turn back and find shelter. But my desire to reach my destination spoke louder.
With each step I gained more strength. And then I could finally start to see the ocean in sight. I had to carefully make my way around the cliffs and the visibility was so poor that I wasn’t sure if I was in the right spot.
To my delight, the weather started to clear. The rain stopped. The clouds lifted a little. And the light started to shine through as the sun was setting. I was able to make my way up along the cliffs to where I took this photo. I stood in complete awe and wonder. It felt like I was standing on the edge of the world! I was absolutely spent, but so content in my soul. I MADE IT! I was finally here. With not a soul in sight. Just me, the birds & the sea. Complete & utter bliss.
